Whatever the outcome I’ve registered for this year’s contest. (And I have a plan…)
In the meantime, I’ve posted a version of the prologue of The Ravishing Corpse. I’ve rewritten it, and several other sections, and added new material because even by the standards of writing a novel in three days, I thought the manuscript was in shambles.
I never expected to be among the finalists, so I’m grateful. But it does feel a little weird.
The Ravishing Corpse
Nikki only wants what’s best for Jason. She’s helping him finish a “true crime novel” based on a local unsolved murder. She’s sacrificed so much. So he killed her. He’s certain he did. But now they’re living in a fieldstone house on the acreage where his grandfather murdered a man. In addition to adding new grotesque tricks to their already vigorous sex life, Nikki starts sending Jason on late-night “missions” to warn women who are soon to be killed by their partners, women who are very similar to lovers from Jason’s past.
As Jason comes to grips with his romantic and sexual past, warns women in danger and works to outwit the Vampires investigating Nikki’s murder, he discovers ex-dead Nikki has been enacting her own agenda for revenge.
